The Concept: Bowie Black Coffin

The Bowie Black Coffin is a dark, high-contrast masterpiece designed for collectors. We forged the blade using SAE 5160 carbon steel with an Electro-Mai of Inox 308 stainless steel. Furthermore, we applied a deep phosphatized finish to highlight the rugged texture. The spine features intricate filework, adding an extra layer of artisan detail.

Materials: Shou Sugi Ban & Alpaca Inlays

The handle is crafted from Quina wood treated with the traditional Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique (charred with fire). Consequently, the wood gains a unique black texture and superior resistance. Additionally, we integrated a hand-chiseled skeleton inlay made of Alpaca silver. The guard and pommel are made of phosphatized steel to match the blade’s dark aesthetic. This combination ensures a secure grip and a disruptive visual identity.

Artisan Engineering and Custom Sheath

With a total length of 390 mm (15.3″), this Bowie is both imposing and agile. The 4.5 mm thickness provides the necessary strength for a fighter-style knife. Moreover, each piece includes a custom cowhide leather sheath. Our artisans hand-chiseled and stitched the leather to complement the dark theme of the set.
